Bursa Malaysia opened lower with FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was 1.00 point down from the previous close. The index opened 0.72 of-a-points lower at 1,689.69.

Market breadth was not as strong as advance to decline ratio stood at 270 to 303 while 1345 counters remained unchanged.

On Sector specific the Financial Services Index, however, fell 20.04 points to 17,601.78, the Plantation Index decreased 11.69 points to 7,252.12 but the Industrial Products and Services Index was 0.23 points higher at 161.75.

Sapura Energy Bhd’s share price fell as much as 1.5 sen after the oil and gas support services provider’s rights shares, warrants and Islamic redeemable, convertible preference shares started trading on Bursa Malaysia.

Eduspec Holdings Bhd share rose in active trade after it fixed the issue price of its proposed private placement shares at two sen a piece. Eduspec rose 0.5 sen to 2.5 sen.

LPI Capital Bhd shares rose 1.47% to RM16.62 after the insurer declared a dividend of 42 sen per share. The company reported higher net profit at RM314.05 million for the FY18 compared to RM313.79 million a year earlier.

Global Market

US market was mixed on Tuesday, with Alphabet, Facebook and other technology-related shares dipping, while a rebound in 3M and other industrials elevated the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

The U.S. announced criminal charges against China’s Huawei Technologies, escalating a fight with the world’s biggest telecommunications equipment maker, which can raise concerns with US-China trade talks.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.21 percent to end at 24,579.96 points, while the S&P 500 lost 0.15 percent to 2,640, dragged down by technology and communications stocks. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.81 percent to 7,028.29.

Oil prices trading lower with concern for the global economy but supported by worries over disruptions to supply from US sanctions on Venezuelan exports.
